Transport for Buckinghamshire honoured with key award to recognise significant casualty reduction achievements on A4128
We would like to congratulate Transport for Buckinghamshire, who have been honoured with the highly respected Prince Michael Award for Road Safety for their efforts in radically reducing the number of incidents on the A4128 in High Wycombe.
Transport for Buckinghamshire were nominated by the Road Safety Foundation because this stretch of the A4128 has been recognised as the most improved road in the country in terms of road safety and casualty reduction, with the number of fatal and serious collisions dropping by 89%, from 19 to two.
This project specifically set out to tackle poor road visibility and delivered clearly improved road delineation to drivers via measures including innovative road marking and the Astucia SolarLite intelligent road studs, providing drivers with greater visibility of the road conditions ahead, giving them more time to react to changes in the road layout.
This award also follows the Highways Excellence Awards, Road Marking Project of the Year Award recognising Clearview Traffic for our part in the scheme with the installation of Astucia solar powered road studs and Bellstan Ltd for the enhanced white lining.
This success of this project was also recently highlighted on Episode 2 of the BBC2’s “Britain’s Killer Roads” programme aired on Tuesday 15th November.
